Welcome to Silkroad experiences
VisionThe intercultural dialogue is a topic that has been discussed all over the world. Yet, between the oriental and the occidental cultures, there has been a bigger emphasis on talking of their differences rather than of their similarities.
Silkroad Outdoor ExperienceThe Silk Road does not only connect different cultures, but also a wide range of landscapes. These landscapes have affected the cultures in different ways and grades of intensity. They are important for understanding those cultures.
Silkroad CaravanThe New Silk Road is not a network of caravan routes anymore. It has become an intercontinental link with railways, highways and communication networks. Our cultural caravan is a long-term series of events performed in major cities along the entire route from Central Europe to the Far East Asia. In addition, future mobility will be an important issue of the project. Consequently we are going to travel along the Silk Road using innovative forms of mobility based on "green" energy.
A touch of Venice
Venice, the ancient European port of trade for the Silk Road, is everywhere present in Piran (Slovenia) - historically and architectually. That´s why the Silkroad Outdoor Team decided to visit one of the most scenic towns along the Adriatic coast for this year´s summer trip.
"Himalayan tiger" on a surf board
Every once in a while the Silkroad Experiences Project provides intercultural contacts of a very specific kind. To see Himalayan folks from Nepal sea paddling along the shores of the Adriatic Sea in Slovenia may serve as a good example for this.
The Silkroad Experiences Outdoor Team has made just another remarkable step in order to explore Asian landscapes that are little known to Westerners. After the pioneering approach to Mount Tomur from Chinese side of the Tien Shan mountain range in 2010, the Silkroad expedition of 2012 has led a team of seven outdoorers and mountaineers to the far West of Nepal.
